KENNEDALE, Texas (Nov. 6, 2021) — Modified ace Jacob Pirkle, open-wheel master Jon White and stock car pilot Boone Evans all won features in their respective divisions, as officials hosted Night 2 of the 15th annual Summit Racing Equipment Showdown on Saturday at Kennedale Speedway Park.

Pirkle powered to victory in the IMCA Modified A Main; White earned his win in a 25-lap tilt for the Limited Modifieds, while Evans was awarded the win in Factory Stock after Brett McMillin failed post-race Technical Inspection.

Blaine Smith (Eco Mods) and Brandon McElroy (IMCA Stock Cars) were also feature winners on the final night of racing at the beautiful oval facility in north Texas.

Pirkle, of Midlothian, drove around the outside of early leader and 2021 KSP track champion Glen Hibbard coming through Turns 3 and 4 to take command at lap 13. Hibbard finished a distant second, while William Gould filled out the podium. Paul White and Buddy Ables completed the top five.

“The track had a lot of character all weekend,” Pirkle told veteran P.A. Announcer Dink McCullough in Victory Lane. “I'll thank track officials for putting in a lot of work to pull this off. We knew it was going to be a little rough, we had a lot of rain and cool temperatures.

“It may have looked like I was on Cruise Control, but I was just trying to keep her going straight.”

Finishing sixth through 10th in the IMCA Modified A Main were Justin Shaw, Bailey Dosser, Anthony Gordon, Larry Adams and Chad Melton. Only two cautions slowed the pace, one at lap 12 for Mike Powers in Turn 4, the other for Jon White's slowing machine just five laps later.

Pirkle's margin of victory was just a tick under five seconds, an indication of just how fast he truly was.

White, of Red Oak, found redemption in his SportMod when Calen Mohler suffered damage to his car while leading the feature. White inherited the lead with just two laps remaining when Mohler bobbled coming off Turn 2.

Keith Martin was awarded second after Terry Pritchett failed technical inspection, while Cody Smith was bumped up to third. Michael Dabney and Trevor Foley finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

“It was going to be a good race between Calen and I, for sure,” White said. “I was kind of setting up to do something on the outside; I guess he hit a rut coming off Turn 2 and took off the right front. That's unfortunate, but we got lucky that we weren't caught up in it.

“I want to thank Mr. Kyle Wilkins for letting me borrow this ride. He's at his sister's wedding tonight, and I sure am grateful he let me borrow it.”

Finishing sixth through 10th in the IMCA Southern SportMod feature were Jeffrey Abbey, Kaden Honeycutt, Damon Hammond, Jeff Reynolds and Jerrett Bransom. Only one caution slowed the pace when Mohler suffered his ill fate at the worst possible time. The SportMods are always a thrill at KSP.

Evans, of Bullard, Texas, finished almost 4.5 seconds behind McMillin yet, as the first legal car to cross the stripe, took home the winner's trophy. Cameron Cook was bumped up to second, while Dylan Moss was bumped up to third after Kaden Honeycutt also failed post-race technical inspection.

In the heavily-revised official finishing order, finishing sixth through 10th were Jeffrey Kinnaird, Jordan Hefler, Blake Clark, Kenny Magar and Ruben Broussard. Only one caution slowed the pace  when John Aramendia came to a stop at the exit of Turn 2. The race was completed in short order.
