Dylan Houser Captures Gobbler 100 In A Thriller

By Katie Dugas of Pit Pass

November 21, 2019

Well folks, one hundred and twenty drivers will start to roll into the famous Volusia Motorsports Park for the 12th Annual iRacing iFlag Gobbler 100. They may be in a million dollar motorhome, a flatbed trailer, or possibly an old school bus, but every Street Stock will unload and have the chance to compete with the biggest names on dirt.
Two servers, five heat races and three mains in each, will determine the best of the best to make up the grid here tonight. This could not have been done without the amazing broadcasts by Brett at Ultimate Dirt Tv, as well as Phil and Todd with Full Velocity Race Network.

Kilanowski. Salter. Weaver. Bergeron. Houser. Fields. Wilson. Chowning. Jones. Howard. Edens. Brown. Bishop. Dedmon. Murray. Froemke. Holt. Elee. Rafferty. Niebruegge. Moyer. Barber. Cardwell. Breuer.
Twenty four drivers. One hundred grueling laps. Only one driver can take home the cash, the title and most importantly, the bragging rights. After the most beautiful rendition of the national anthem, performed by Kevin Dedmon of Dirty Grass Soul, the drivers are tightening down the straps and getting ready to fire up these Street Stocks!

The most famous words on iRacing…. “WHOOOOOS IT GONNNAA BE TO WIN THE GOBBLER 100 TONIGHT!!!” as Kilanowski wastes no time at all after the green flag waves, with “America’s Sweetheart”, Howard Weaver down low and “Racin Jason Salter” side by side. In typical Dylan Houser fashion, less than ten laps in, he dives low and brings it three wide for second, slight contact with the ten, and we keep it going.

The 07 of Weaver will have to hold off Salter and Houser for what seems like a hundred laps, all while Kilanowski watches it in the rearview, grinning from ear to ear. One quarter of the race in the books, most drivers are running single file around the top side of the track, while the 07 is trying to work in that bottom side.
Half way home, Kilanowski still your leader, but Weaver to his driver door, Salter and Houser side by side on their bumpers, and just like that, the yellow flag is in the air. The 311 of Holt gets pinched on track, and makes contact with that “controversial” u tire.

As we get back to green, Weaver will waste no time getting on the loud pedal, with a four wide battle behind him, leaving Salter into the wall. All of a sudden, the crowd is on their feet, a loud roar from the stands, and that is what happens when Weaver Nation is present and the 07 is our front. Bergeron and Houser battle hard for second, Kilanowski fights back in fifth with the 52 of Edens on his tail.
Weaver maintains his lead on the mid to top line, as Houser gets the pass on Bergeron, runs low, trying to gain the momentum to get that pass into the lead. Dedmon cracks the top five, with Bishop close behind, Chowning on the move as well. Twenty five laps to go, door to door, Houser on the bottom, Weaver up high, which line will prevail?
Fifteen more laps remain, Bishop gets the pass on Chowning for seventh, Houser scrapes the bottom, alongside Weaver, make slight contact, Dedmon tries the very bottom, and trying to make something happen. Less than ten remain, Houser gets the lead over Weaver, and Dedmon goes around after contact with Bergeron, leaving Bishop into p-five.

The three wide battle for second, with Weaver, Edens and Kilanowski heats up, while Houser watches from position number one, and just hoping they keep it going, because he is off in a new zip code with two laps remaining! Four more left turns for the Ronny Weaver Racing number two machine of Dylan Houser, all the way to Victory Lane for Swindell Speedlabs. The 52 of James Edens comes home in second and the semi-retired Howard Weaver still grabs a podium spot.

What a phenomenal run by every one of these drivers tonight, and making the 12th Gobbler, the best one yet! This surely wouldn’t have been possible without Jeff Brown with iRacing iFlag, Team VLR, all of our admins, Stephen Kalivoda, Rocky Battenfield, Tyler Burrow and Trevor Brownlee, and to all of the amazing sponsors!

See y'all Monday night for the Race On Texas Super Lates at Charlotte!
