DayMotorSports.com Race Recap: Duvall, Steele, Case triumphant at Super Bee

CHATHAM, Louisiana (May 6, 2023) — Touring Modified veteran Joe Duvall, regional open-wheel ace Mickey Steele and Stock car veteran Vic Case all won features in their respective divisions, as officials hosted a full card of racing on Saturday night at Super Bee Speedway.

Duvall powered to victory in the 20-lap A Main for American Racer Modified Series (ARMS) teams; Steele prevailed in a caution-plagued affair for Limited Modifieds; while Case won in Factory Stock.

Dalton Patrick (Crate Late Models); Devin Richards (Pro Mods); Kale Murphrey (Street Stocks); Kobe Kulp (USRA Tuners) and Cody Chilton (Sportsters) were also feature winners on a beautiful night for racing in central Louisiana.

Duvall, of Claremore, Oklahoma, started second alongside polesitter Drake Findley and led all 20 laps of his caution-free feature for a $2,000 payday. Findley, of Bryant, Arkansas, settled for second, while Jade Luzenberg filled out the podium.

Sean Gaddis (Diana, Texas) and Chris Dawson (Denham Springs) completed the top five. Finishing sixth through 10th in the ARMS feature were Chase Wascom, Tanner Barnhart, Kenny Gaddis, Xavier Ortega and Wayne Hart Jr. When Duvall starts up front, it can be curtains for the competition.

Steele, of Ball, Louisiana, started on the pole on an 18-car grid and went wire-to-wire to score his win. Logan Griffin crossed the stripe in second, while Ben Leedy put in a solid effort to fill out the podium. Joseph Shirley and Colton Davis (Prairieville) rounded out the top five.

Finishing sixth through 10th in the Storm Services USRA Limited Modified A Main were Levi Heflin, Ronny Freeland, Will Owens, Richie Patton and Ronnie King. A whopping eight cautions slowed the pace (laps 2, 4, 4, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11), enough for officials to cut the race short in the interest of time.

Case, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, started sixth on the 19-car grid, drove underneath John Parker Jr. to take command at lap seven (heavy contact was made) coming off Turn 2 and pulled steadily away to earn top honors. Michael Harlow drove up from fifth to second, while Mike Lavespere finished third.

Parker Jr. (Dry Prong) and Matt Driskill (Ruston) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Finishing sixth through 10th in the Dixie Towing Factory Stock A Main were Joe Rachal, Dawson Moore, Lee Johnson, Bo Johnson and Caleb Smith. Six cautions slowed the pace, and sadly only nine of the 19 starters were running at the finish. Both the Limiteds and Factory Stocks were a bit troubled.

This week's program at Super Bee drew a respectable 104 entries spread across eight divisions. Track officials knocked out 15 Heats in short order, took a short break and proceeded to execute their Mains as best as possible. Other than delays caused by excessive cautions, the show moved along nicely.

Teams from the American Racer Modified Series now move to the famed Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian for a Sunday night show. New-for-2023 promoter Kevin Rogers is sure to cap their three-night stint in Louisiana in fine style. High-powered Mods at “The Land of 3-Wide” will be a thrill to witness.
