MANY, Louisiana (Sept. 9, 2022) — Versatile dirt oval master and car builder Cade Dillard, rising star Corey Neil Jr. and stock car ace Daniel Jones all won features in their respective divisions, as officials presented a full card of weekly racing on Friday evening at Sabine Speedway.
Dillard powered to victory in the Crate Late Model feature; Neil prevailed in a hotly-contested A Main for the Limited Modifieds, while Jones came out on top in a competitive tussle for Factory Stock warriors. Jack Dupont (FWD) was also a feature winner on another perfect night for racing in Many.
Dillard, of Robeline, drove to the inside of point leader Stacy Veuleman coming off Turn 2 to take command at lap four and pulled away to earn top honors. Brandon Ball gave chase throughout yet settled for second, while Garrett Gibson filled out the podium.
Clayton Stuckey (Shreveport) and Veuleman (Florien) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
Finishing sixth through 10th in the Foy Motors Crate Late Model A Main were Rob Litton, Brock Williams, Bryan Cook, Tracy Denby Sr. and Corey Basco. Only one caution slowed the pace right at the halfway mark for a minor spin. The impressive Dillard would go unchallenged on this night.
Neil, of Bridge City, Texas, started fourth on a 21-car grid, got a great jump on the initial start and led all 20 laps of his feature in convincing fashion. Michael King Jr. started ninth, steadily worked his way into contention and crossed the line in second, while Colby Williams filled out the podium.
Conner Williams (Sibley) and Josh Baucom (Shreveport) completed the top five.
Finishing sixth through 10th in the American Championship Series (ACS) Limited Modified feature were Bob Kellogg, Matt Burney, Barron Prince, point leader Ben Leedy and Logan Crayon. Four cautions slowed the pace (laps 0, 11, 12, 12) for minor spins.
Neil's margin of victory over King was approximately two car lengths.
Jones, of Provencal, started second alongside Joshua Martin and led all 20 laps of that Factory Stock tilt in fine style. CJ Howell started third and crossed the stripe in second, while John Parker Jr. filled out the podium.
Martin faded to fourth at the finish, while Dalton Dubois rounded out the top five.
Finishing sixth through 10th in the BOM Bank Factory Stock feature were Josh Daugherty, Justin McClelland, Dewayne Rains, Dakoda Wyatt and Randy Wheeler. Three cautions slowed the pace (laps 3, 3, 4), all for minor incidents.
Sixty-four entries filled the pits on Friday evening spread out between four divisions. For a late-season points race, that's a decent turnout. Officials cranked out nine qualifying heats and four features in a neat, tidy three-hour time frame.
